Born in Colombia, Mr. Pombo has a B.A.
with a major in Economics from St. Michael's College, Winoski,
Vermont. Additionally he has a degree from the University of Alabama,
in Tuscalosa, in Foreign Affairs and also attended the Advanced
Management of the Kellogs Business School at North Western University.
He is a crosscultural individual, since he has lived abroad for over 16 years, in countries such as the United States, Venezuela and Ecuador and has visited the most important countries of Europe, Asia and Australia.
His professional background includes 25 years of experience in high level management positions with major multinational companies in the financial and energy sectors.
Before joining Korn/Ferry International in October 1993, Mr. Pombo held the position of Administrative and Financial Vice President for the Colombian subsidiary of Drummond Coal Ltd. of Birmingham, Alabama, who signed a joined contract with the Colombian Government for the exploitation of"La Loma" coal reserves with an annual coal production of 13 MM tons.
Previously, for a short period of time, he was the Partner of another prestigious Executive Search firm.
For over eight years, he held various top management positions with Intercor, the local Colombian subsidiary of Exxon Coal and Minerals of Houston Texas, who also has joint operations with the Colombian Government with an original investment of U$S 3.2 MM, for the exploitation of the "Cerrejon Coal Mine", which has an annual production of 15 MM tons and employs almost 5,000 people. His last position was Administrative and Finantial Vice President.
Further, he developed a 15 year successful career at Citibank, holding the following positions: V.P. and Managing Director for the Southeast region of North American Banking Group, based out of Miami, Country Manager for Ecuador, Vice President in charge of Planning and Management of Citibank, subsidiaries in Caracas, Venezuela and General Manager in Bogota and Cali.
All along his professional career, he has been actively involved in the Administration of Human Resources Management and all its different functional areas.
Mr. Pombo is Vice President / Partner of Korn/Ferry International and is the Managing Director of the Colombian Office, overseeing Peru and Ecuador.
